Warning lamps

NOTE
 If the blinking is too fast, the cause may be a
blown lamp bulb or a faulty turn-signal con-
nection.
 When the hazard warning lamp switch is
pressed, all turn-signal lamps will flash on

and off continuously.
 When the hazard warning lamps automat-
ically activate due to sudden braking
while driving. Refer to "Emergency stop
signal system" on page 6-33.
Warning lamps
Brake warning lamp
This lamp illuminates when
the operation mode of the
power switch is put in ON,
and goes off after a few sec-
onds.
Always make sure that the lamp goes off
before driving.
With the operation mode of the power switch
in ON, the brake warning lamp illuminates
under the following conditions:
 When the brake fluid level in the reservoir
falls to a low level.

Instruments and controls
 When the brake force distribution func-
tion is not operating correctly.
CAUTION
 In the situations listed below, brake perfor-
mance may be compromised or the vehicle
may become unstable if brakes are applied
suddenly; consequently, avoid driving at
high speeds or applying the brakes suddenly.
Furthermore, immediately the vehicle should
be brought to a stop in a safe location and
your
nearest
authorised
MOTORS dealer should be contacted.
• The brake warning lamp and the ABS
warning lamp illuminate at the same time.
For details, refer to "ABS warning
lamp/display" on page 6-35.

• The brake warning lamp remains illumi-
nated while driving.
 The vehicle should be brought to a halt in the

following manner when brake performance
has deteriorated.
• Depress the brake pedal harder than usual.
Even if the brake pedal moves down to the
very end of its possible stroke, keep it
pressed down hard.
• Should the brakes fail, use regenerative
braking to reduce your speed and keep pull-
ing the Electric parking brake switch.

Depress the brake pedal to operate the stop
lamp to alert the vehicles behind you.
Electric parking brake warning
lamp
This warning lamp will illumi-
nate when there is a fault in
the Electric parking brake sys-
tem.
Normally, this warning lamp
illuminates when the operation mode of the
power switch is put in ON, and goes off in a
few seconds.

CAUTION
 When the warning lamp remains on or does
not come on, there is the possibility that the
Electric parking brake cannot be operated or
released. Immediately contact the nearest
authorised MITSUBISHI MOTORS dealer.
When the warning lamp comes on during
driving, immediately stop the vehicle in a
safe place, and contact your authorised
MITSUBISHI MOTORS dealer. If you inev-
itably have to park, park the vehicle on level
and stable ground, put the select position in
the "P" (PARK) position and place chocks or
blocks.
