Dynamic steering : System fault! You can
conti nue driving
If the indicator lig ht turns on and the message
appears, the stee ring may be more difficult to
move or mo re sensit ive than usual. The steering
wheel may also be at an angle when driving
straight .
Drive slow ly to your author ized Audi dealer or
q ua lified workshop t o have the ma lfunction cor-
rected .

Dynamic steering : initializing
If th is driver message appears and the ind icator
light is flashing on the instrument
panel, dynam-
ic stee ring* is be ing rein itialized . After start ing
the eng ine , the steering wheel will move s light ly.
Re-initia lizat ion m igh t be necessa ry if the st eer-
ing whee l was moved hard to the left and right
while the vehicle was not moving. The disp lay
goes out as soon as initialization is complete .

WARNING
Have the dynamic steering* system malfunc-
tion repaired as soon as possible by an au-
thorized Audi dealer or qualified workshop -
risk of accident!

Tips
- If the .

not available in the event of a system mal-

With all-wheel drive, all four wheels are driven .
General informat ion
With a ll-wheel d rive, power is distr ibuted to a ll
four wheels. Th is happens automat ica lly depend-
ing on your driving style and the road conditions
at the t ime . See a lso c::> page 168 .
A center d ifferential d istributes the driving powe r
variably to the front and rear axle.
It
works to·
gether w ith selective whee l torque contro l, which
activates when drivi ng through curves
c::> page 168. W ith the sport d ifferen t ial*, power
dist ribution to the rear wheels is variable and can
be adj usted wit h drive select c::> page 101 .
The all -whee l dr ive concept is des igned for hig h
engine power . Your vehicle is except ionally pow-
erfu l and has excellent driv ing cha racteristics
both under normal d riving conditions and o n
snow and ice. Always read and follow safe ty pre-

Winter tires
When dr iving in t he winter, yo ur vehicle with all-
whee l dr ive has an advantage,
even with regu la r
t ires . In w inte r road co nd it ions it may be advisa-
ble to moun t win t er t ires (or all-se ason t ires) for
imp roved driveability and braking: these tires
must be mo unted on all four wheels. See also

Tire chains
Where tire cha ins are mandatory on certain
roads, th is normally a lso applies to vehicles wit h
all-wheel drive <=> page 22 2, Snow chains.
Replacing wheels / tires
Vehicles with a ll-wheel drive mus t a lways have
t ires of the same size. Also avoid t ires with differ-
en t tread dep t hs. Fo r deta ils see page
