The STU 111/SECTEL contains a built-in modem designed to
provide secure data communication with any type of computer
terminal, using RS·232C or RS-449 connectors.
You should have a basic understanding of your computer's
telecommunications capabilities before using the STU 111/SECTEL
in the data communication mode. Thoroughly review your
telecommunication software manual and computer hardware
manual.
The STU 111/SECTEL transmits data in the secure mode only. The
computer that will be receiving the transmitted data must be
connected to a STU Ill Terminal. Your STU 111/SECTEL is designed
to provide a secure telecommunication link with other computer
equipment.
The STU 111/SECTEL is designed to operate as a modem, capable
of handling both synchronous and asynchronous communication.
Using your telecommunication software manual as a guide, set the
communication protocols used to interface the computer terminal
to your STU 111/SECTEL. The following paragraphs summarize the
information used to set your computer's communication
protocols.
