The display messages discussed in this chapter have been
incorporated in the STU 111/SECTEL's software to inform the user
when the terminal is not operating properly or when it has failed to
perform a selected function. Generally, the display message
contains the current status of the terminal on the top line and the
recommended user's prompt on the bottom line. For example, the
message:
CLEAR

r ... :-·. r···
=""-a--

Notifies the user that a valid Crypto Ignition Key (CIK) must be
inserted and prompts the user to press

to enter the clear
mode of operation.
The display messages are listed in alphabetical order by first line
within five related error groups as follows:
• Clear Call
• Secure Call
• Fill
• Key Management Center (KMC)
• Miscellaneous.
This enables the user to apply corrective action as quickly as
possible. Some of the messages are preceded by a beep to alert
the user that action is required at the terminal.
NOTE
Invalid key presses may
cause a
beep to occur, but
are
otherwise ignored.
