Connecting Computer to STU 111/SECTEL
The STU 111/SECTEL interfaces directly to a computer via an
RS-449 connector. If the computer is equipped with an RS-232C
interface connector, an RS-449-to-RS-232C adapter, such as
Motorola adapter 5DGA 71 AA (see Chapter 9, Models and
Accessories), is required. Refer to Figure 3-8 and your computer's
manual as a guide to make the following connections.

Connect the computer terminal end of a modem interface
cable to the computer.
NOTE
The STU /II SECTEL must be connected only to a computer terminal
configured as
a
Data Terminal Equipment (DTE). Refer to the computer's
operators manual for instructions.

Determine the type of connector that is attached to the
modem end of the computer's interface cable, and proceed
as follows:
a. If the connector is an RS-449, plug the connector directly into
the RS-449 jack located on the rear of the STU Ill/SECTEL.
