10. Remove fasteners at the 11 o'clock posi-
tion and 1 o'clock position on the tub
(shell} backplate. Insert eyebolts into
backplate holes and support the basket
shaft with a sling supported by the eye-
bolts. See Figure 2-20 and 2-21.

11. Using a three-armed gear puller con-
nected to the basket shaft and to notches
at the rear of the bearing assembly, press
the basket shaft out of the bearing assem-
bly. This will move the bearing assembly
backward on the basket shaft.

12. Remove the bearing assembly by sliding
it out the pilot rods. Note: The bearing
assembly is heavy (approximately 100
lbs.) and proper care and precaution
must be used when handling.
13. With the bearing assembly removed the
seals and seal plate can be removed from
the back of the basket through the hole in
the backplate and shell back. Remove the
split ring located on the shaft before
installing puller to remove the tapered
inner race of the front bearing and fixing
ring before removing the front plate with
the v-ring seals.
MOTORS
MFS machines use two 3 phase motors to
provide 4 speeds used in the process of a
cycle. The speeds are listed below:
Wash
Distribution
Low Spin
High ,Spin
The four speeds are provided by means of
dual motor windings in each motor, provid-
ing two speeds per motor. One motor typi-
cally provides wash and distribution speeds;
the other provides low and high spin speeds.
The exception to this is in the MFS25 and
MFS35 models. On those models, the ma-
