6. UPS INSTALLATION: PARALLEL UPS – TERMINAL BLOCK – CONTROL CABLES
* Up to 3 units can be installed for parallel operation.
* Parallel systems can be configured for same 3 Output options offered for single UPS.
* This section describes connections for parallel systems.
* UPS operating in parallel must be configured and started up as explained in this manual.
* Any error during connection, configuration, or start up might cause permanent damages. Follow all instructions carefully.
WARNING:
* Make sure UPS is Off before start installation procedure.
* All wires to be connected (Including external batteries cables, if there are) must be power-off before starting any procedure.
TERMINAL BLOCK PREPARATION
Remove TB cover located on rear side of UPS.
Do not connect any UPS to a wall socket. Usually, wall sockets provide 3KVA maximum. AC lines must be connected to electrical board using
cables with required gauge.
UPS INPUT AND OUTPUT CONNECTIONS
First of all, connect ground terminals to system earth. Ground must always be first terminals to connect and last to disconnect.
a)
AC INPUT WIRES: Input wires must come from a Breaker main circuit breaker at the electrical panel. These cables must be connected to
individual circuit breakers before being able to connect to the UPS Terminal Block.
b)
AC Output WIRES: Output wires must be connected directly to individual Breaker. Individual Breakers should be connected to a Higer
capacity Main Breaker in the Load Line toward equipment protected by the UPS system.
c)
Ground Wire: Connect ground line according to images in this section.
d)
NON-ISOLATED NEUTRAL TERMINAL: Connect all NON-ISOLATED NEUTRAL of all UPS in the parallel system.
e)
BATTERY CABLES: If UPS include external batteries, each external battery bank must be connected to specific connector in
corresponding UPS.
f)
PARALLEL CONTROL CABLES: Connect parallel cables and shared current cables according to diagrams in this section.
Connect input and output cables in terminals of the Terminal Block located on rear panel of UPS. Please make connections following next
drawings according to your model:
IMPORTANT:
In case of differences between below figures and information printed on the UPS you must follow info. printed on.
UPS BYPASS
Next 2 pages show connection diagrams for parallel UPS, both for ISOTX & 220V models.
In both cases, we have considered only one power supply, therefore, AC Input terminals and Bypass terminals are connected in the Terminal
Block
IMPORTANT NOTE – EXTERNAL BATERIES:
In parallel systems, each UPS must count on its own individual battery PACK. Batteries cannot be shared, so 2 UPS cannot be
installed in parallel using only one battery PACK, otherwise, this will cause permanent damages to UPS.
