5-2 Master/Slave setting(models with any option does not have this function)
Please make the Master/Slave switch of the rear panel into a Master in the Master unit of Master/Slave
operation.
In the Slave unit of Master/Slave operation, please make the Master/Slave switch of the rear panel into
slave, and set the Master/Slave function "M_S" of a starting menu as slave "SLA".
* Before shipment, the Master/Slave switch of the rear panel is set as slave, and the Master/Slave
function "M_S" of the starting menu is set as "OFF".
* When the Master/Slave setting switch is set to slave the voltage and current setting dial become invalid,
and the unit is to be remote control mode.
* Each setting is to be sent to slave units when master unit is turned on. So when master/slave operation,
make sure to turn on slave unit first before turning on master unit.
5 - 2 - 1 Master/Slave function
Set the [Master/Slave setting switch] of the unit to be assigned as Master unit to Master side, and that of
unit to be assigned as Slave unit to Slave side. Then using the enclosed CO-M cable(not available for
model with any option) connect OUT terminal of CO-M connector of Master unit and IN terminal of CO-M
connector of Slave unit.(refer 5-2-2)
Slave units follow the Master's each operation of output ON/OFF(*OUTPUT of Slave need to be ON),
output voltage setting, output current setting, OVP and UVL. Control of those operations of both Master
unit and Slave unit can be done at the same time.
* When using remote sense function, use +sense terminal and –sense terminal of all Master/Slave
units.( See section Connection of remote sensing wire for the range of wire material from connector
Caution for Master/Slave function
CAUTION
≫ When each protection function is detected at the Master unit, all the Slave unit connected to Master
shall cut off the output.
When detected at each Slave unit, only the Slave which detected the protection function cut off the
output.
In order to resume the output of Slave unit cut off, turn OFF the OUTPUT of the Master unit to reset
the status, and then restart the output.
* The above operation is for the protection functions of OVP, OTP, Sense reverse connection,
LD(interlock) and UVL.
≫ With Master/Slave function, the setting signal from Master unit to Slave unit shall be sent when
Master unit is turned on. So it is required to turn on Slave unit first, and to wait for about 10
seconds(version indication time of Slave unit can be used as a guide) after turning on Slave unit
before turning on the Master unit, which is important when integrate units into system.
When generating the output, make sure that the preset value of the Master unit is set by pressing
"SET button" of the Slave unit.( *Master/Slave function when Slave Remote)
≫ Master/Slave function of our power supplies are controllable only with digital signals, so when the
Master unit is connected with analog signal, [6-2 Local Programming Mode Operation], the operation
is only for the Master unit. In order to operate the Master and Slave, each unit need analog signal
connection. Output However only ON/OFF by LS(remote switch function) can be used as it is
relayed from the Master unit to Slave units.
Other remote analog functions is possible with combination of our CO-MS series, so please contact
to local sales office when needed.
