Using a printer
You can connect a local printer to your computer through the LAN
Port Replicator, the optional I/O Adapter or the optional
Multimedia Port Replicator. Alternatively, if the computer is
connected to your office network, you can use the network
printers.
This explanation assumes you are connecting the printer to the
LAN Port Replicator that came with your system.
CAUTION: Never connect the printer cable if the computer' s
power is on. Doing so may damage the printer, the computer,
or both.
Before you can connect a printer, determine whether it uses a
serial or a parallel interface. The printer documentation will
indicate the interface type. If the printer can be switched between
serial and parallel mode, choose parallel because it is faster.
You also need a suitable printer cable, which may have come with
your printer. If not, your company may keep a stock of cables.
Otherwise, printer cables are available at most computer and
electronics stores.
