Transferring files to another computer
Using a direct cable connection
To transfer the files between the two computers:
Close Windows 98 Second Edition and turn off the power on

both computers.
Connect the LAN Port Replicator or other expansion device

to your notebook computer.
Connect the parallel or serial cable to the expansion device

and to the other computer's parallel or serial ports.
Turn on both computers.

From your notebook, click Start on the taskbar.

Go to Programs and click Accessories .

Click the Direct Cable Connection icon.

The Direct Cable Connection dialog box appears.
Your computer will be the guest computer. The computer with
the CD-ROM drive is the host computer.
Click Next and follow all instructions until you have

completed the setup.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 on the other computer.

Load the Recovery and Configuration Builder CD into the

host computer and access it from your computer.
Transfer the necessary files.

Close the Direct Cable Connection software on both
12
computers.
Close Windows 98 Second Edition, shut off power on both
13
computers and remove the cable connection.
