Power Supplies

All power supplies have a green LED POWER ON indicator, a red LED FAIL indicator, and an On-
Off power switch on the front panel. All power supply modules in the MS-1 and MS-1E shelves are
hot-swappable modular units. The front panels are illustrated in
• The AC shelf (MS-1 or MS-1E) may use one or two AC power supplies: GPS-11 (120 V) or
GPS-11E (220 V) for non-redundant, or redundant use. The AC power supplies are rated at 96
watts total (+5 VDC = 0 - 16A, ±12 VDC = 0-1.67A).
• The DC shelf (MS-1/DC) may use one or two DC power supplies (DPS-19) that operate from
one or, optionally, two -48 VDC station battery(s). The DC power supply is rated at 96 watts
total (+5 VDC = 0 - 16A, ±12 VDC = 0-3.33A).

Power Supply Removal
1. To remove a failed power supply, make sure the power switch of the failed unit is in the OFF
position before removing the power supply from the shelf.
2. Loosen the front panel screw to unseat the power supply, then pull on the screw.
You can now install a replacement power supply as described below.

3. To install a new or replacement power supply, make sure the power switch is in the OFF
position before inserting power supply into the shelf.
4. Insert the module into its slot with the GDC logo on top, then slide it in until it makes contact.
5. Tighten the front panel screw to press the front panel firmly against the shelf frame and seat
the module. Then flip the power switch to the ON position.
Note
In a redundant shelf, keep at least one operational power supply in both upper and lower shelves at all times.
