Line Interface Modules

V.11 and V.35 LIM

The V.11 and V.35 Line Interface Modules provide a non-byte-aligned interface to the network
through an external DSU/CSU. The V.11 and V.35 LIMs also provide the following functions:
Recovers the clock from line equipment for OCM clocking when configured for slave timing.
Provides visual indicators on the front panel for local alarm, in service or not in service, in sync
or not in sync, and diagnostic tests passed or failed.
Performs a self-test on power-up, module in slot, or a command from the Maintenance Console.
Performs diagnostics through TMS Controller or Maintenance Console.
V.11 only: Provides V.11 (RS 422) data and clocks.
V.35 only: Provides V.35 data and clocks, EIA/TIA-232-E controls, RTS, DCD, CTS, RI,
DTR, and DSR, and also provides V.54 diagnostic controls LL, RL, and TM.

Basecard Options

The V.11 and V.35 basecard options are typically set at the factory to match your network operation.
Check these settings when you first install the unit. You need not repeat the procedure unless you
change your network.
1. Examine the option switch on the plug-in interface card.

3. When you are satisfied that the basecard options are set correctly, install the LIM module in
the shelf as described previously in this section under the paragraph on
Figure 4-3
