Data Channel Modules

Data Channel Front Panel

Table 5-1
shows a typical front panel of all data channel modules and explains the function of each
switch and indicator (shown: Dual data Channel Module). You can check the operation of each unit
by monitoring the front panel indicators. The colors of the LED indicators on the modules front
panels are consistent in function:
Red and yellow are used for alarms or "service-affecting" conditions. This includes test
modes that are interfering with normal user data.
Alarm conditions depend on the modules, but normally, red indicates a Major Alarm (a
number of problems), and yellow indicates a Minor Alarm (channel alarms).
The green LED indicators are used for all other conditions, including data activity and
E&M signaling leads.
