Assemble the Gun

1. Hold the cover (2a) up to the back of the gun and
insert the trigger switch connector (Q) into the
receptacle connector (S). See Fig. 44.
2. Make sure the spool return spring (7a) is in place.

HAZARDS
To reduce the risk of serious injury or
property damage, be sure the spool re-
turn spring (7a) is in place before installing the gun
cover (2a). If the spring is not properly installed, the
gun will fail open.
3. Place the cover (2a) on the gun. Make sure that
the wires are not pinched between the cover and
gun body. Secure the cover with the five screws
(39).
4. While still in the service area, connect an electrical
cable and air hose to the gun. Do not install the
nozzle head assembly yet!
CAUTION
To avoid damaging the nozzle, never trigger the
gun with the nozzle head assembly (4, 5) installed
and the fluid supply turned off or disconnected.
5. Trigger the gun to check for air leaks and for prop-
er operation of the gun. Correct any problems be-
fore installing the gun on the production line.
6. Install the thermal spacer (16) against the back of
the nozzle head assembly (4, 5). See Fig. 45.
7. Slide the nozzle head assembly (4, 5) and thermal
spacer (16) onto the gun body (1). Align the needle
with the quick-disconnect hole and push it in. You
should feel when the needle sets into the quick
disconnect.
Service
8. Tighten the two nozzle head screws (4e) to 4.5 to
6.5 ft-lb (6.1 to 8.8 N m). See Fig. 46, page 29.

screws (4e) are properly tightened to 4.5 to 6.5 ft-lb
(6.1 to 8.8 N m). Failure to tighten the screws will
cause the gun to fail open.
