Needle/Nozzle Assembly Repair or
Replacement (continued)
Check Valve Maintenance
The nozzle head check valve needs periodic mainte-
nance as the foam material can build up in this area
and cause pressure variations. In extreme cases, ma-
terial cross-over may occur. Service the check valve
as instructed below whenever you repair or replace a
needle/nozzle assembly.
NOTE: A Repair Kit, part no. 237–257, is available.
See page 33.
22. Remove the plastic seat (4a) and o-ring (4d) from
each check valve with a pick. See Fig. 16.
23. Remove the ball (4b) and spring (4c) from each
check valve.
24. Clean all the parts thoroughly, including the nozzle
housing bore (U). Replace the check valve parts
as needed.
25. Install the spring (4c) and ball (4b) into the nozzle
housing.
26. Install the o-ring (4d) onto the seat (4a). Press the

Reassemble the Gun
27. Push the needle/nozzle assembly (5) into the
nozzle head (4). See Fig. 17. Torque the nozzle
retainer (5b) to 15 ft-lb. (20.25 N m); do not turn
the end cap (5a) while tightening the retainer.
28. Install the thermal spacer (16) against the back of
the nozzle head (4). See Fig. 18.
29. Slide the nozzle head assembly (4, 5) and thermal
