4.1.2 – Standard ASCII Protocol
The M20-EPS allow readout transfer using standard ASCII coded transmissions.
The coded ASCII transmission is widely used in the industry; this simple method
allows direct decode of all received packets with minimum post-processing.
Basically the protocol encodes the required readout as a sequence of characters.
Data requisition can be triggered from three sources:
- Sending a request character to the equipment;
- Pressing momentarily the key
- From an external button attached to the equipment digital input port.
As reply from the data request the M20-EPS will return 14 characters, generically
described as follows:
S999,9______<CR><LF>
the S indicates the readout signal (' ' or '-'); the "9" indicate each decimal number
(coded as usual number ASCII characters); the "_" indicate white spaces and the
<CR><LF> indicate the special ASCII characters for carrier return and line feed. Based
on user setup the decimal '.' point may be included within the character stream.
The following command requests can be transmitted:
Request
x, X or ?
v or V
