3.7 – Needle clean up and air blockage
During normal measurement operation small part fragments may block or reduce
normal air flow. This untended air flow restriction will be perceptible as a higher fusion
strength index, so it must correct as soon as detected.
To clean up the needle:
Position the needle in its resting pad;

Press key
•
pressure air supply for a brief period, and any small fragments will be expelled.
In case the equipment will be left idle, it is possible to block the air supply to the
measurement needle. This reduces compressed air loss and may represent a
considerable energy economy.
To block the air flow to the needle press key
on the LCD. To return to normal measurement mode just press any key.
As a standard behavior the M20-EPS will automatically block the air flow to the needle
if no measurement change occurs during 2 minutes. This functionality can be changed
or disabled as required. To access these parameters press
Compressed air auto lock, and change options Lock Mode and Auto lock timeout.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The cleaning procedure injects high-pressure compressed air into the
needle for a brief period. During cleaning, the needle must be positioned
in the resting pad or other holding fixture to prevent it from slipping out of
the hand and to prevent possible fragments from being ejected towards
the operator.
