3.5 – Statistical analysis
The M20-EPS column computes and displays in real time statistical information about
the sample population acquired from a part. This functionality is very important because
allows the user to evaluate the average fusion strength index of a particular part, as well
its index standard deviation. In complex parts it is usual to observe an index variation in
different areas due to complex geometries or homogeneity problems.
As standard factory option, a new sample will be acquired after readout stability is
achieved. This allows the user to quickly insert the needle on all required spots, waiting
just for a beep and/or visual feedback.
After sample acquisition it is required, a readout drop below 3% to restart a new
sampling detection. This sudden readout drop will happen after the usual removal of the
needle.
Sample detection is processed using two parameters: detection threshold and
minimum detection time. A new sample is acquired when a stable readout is detected
during a minimum time, where stability is defined as observed variations within the
threshold limit.

Optionally, in case the user wishes to confirm manually each new sample, it is
possible to disable auto sample detection accessing menu:

During measurement mode the key
If the key is pressed for 3 seconds all samples will be discarded and a new
measurement cycle will start (excluded samples stored by the integrated data logger).
