7-7. Servicing Fuel System And Fuel Filter

Draining Water From Fuel Tank
Y Stop engine and let it cool down be-
fore servicing fuel system.

Fuel Tank Drain Valve

Fuel Tank Drain Port
Place suitable pan under drain port. Open
valve and let water and sludge drain out.
Once the water and sludge are drained and
clean fuel starts to drain, close the valve.
Wipe and clean up any spills.
Dispose of fuel/water/sludge in an environ-
mentally safe manner.

Draining Water from Fuel Filter And
Replacing Filter Element
Y Stop engine and let it cool down be-
fore servicing fuel system.

Fuel Valve
Turn valve to closed position.

Filter body

Ring Nut

Filter Cup
Tools Needed:

Loosen ring nut and remove filter cup (has
element inside).
Dump out cup and the filter element and
wipe up any water or dirt left in the cup.
Properly disposal of fuel.
Reinstall old or replace new filter element
into cup.
Reinstall filter cup onto body and tighten
ring nut.
Open fuel valve. Air will bleed automatically
from the fuel system as the engine is start-
ing (see Engine Manual for information).
Wipe up any spilled fuel.
Dispose of fuel/water/sludge in an environ-
mentally safe manner.
