7-11. Servicing Engine Cooling System

Y Stop engine and let it cool down.
1 Radiator
2 Recovery Tank
3 Coolant Drain Port
4 Coolant Drain Valve (Not Shown – In
Coolant Drain Line)
When engine is cooled, remove radiator

cap. Place pan under drain port and open
drain valve. Drain and flush system with
clean water.
Close drain valve.
Fill system with 50/50 mix of antifreeze and
water according to Engine Manual. See En-
gine Manual for complete procedure and
Tools Needed:

coolant specifications. Reinstall radiator
cap.
Run engine until engine reaches normal op-
erating temperature.
Check coolant level in recovery tank. Add
coolant if necessary.
Dispose of used coolant in an environmen-
tally safe manner.
