8-1. Troubleshooting

Loose wiring, connectors, or connections. Check and secure connections.
Fuel valve is closed. Open valve (O= open, C=close) (see Section 7-7).
No fuel. Add fuel to tank.
Incorrect type of fuel. Change to correct type and grade of fuel.
Clogged fuel filter element. Change element (see Section 7-7).
Faulty fuel pump. Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check and replace fuel pump.
Faulty fuel solenoid. Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check and replace solenoid.
Loose or disconnected wiring or connectors. Check and secure as needed.
Faulty oil pressure switch. Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check and replace switch.
Lack of cooling airflow through radiator. Adjust fan belt tension and clean outside of radiator.
Low coolant. Fill coolant (see Section 4-4).
Faulty water temperature switch. Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check and replace switch.
Loose or disconnected wiring and/or connectors. Check and secure as needed.
Faulty alternator. Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check and replace alternator.
Faulty regulator. Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check and replace regulator.
Clogged air filter. Replace air filter element (see Section 7-5).
Engine Speed switch stays in Run position. Stop engine and have Factory Authorized Service Agent
check switch.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check WCR (Weld Current Regulator board) and thyristor.
Loose, disconnected, or poor contact of wiring and/or connectors on Engine Speed switch. Check and
secure all connections.
Disconnected or open AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator board) fuse. Have Factory Authorized Service
Agent check connections and/or replace fuse (see Section 7-10).
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check field excitation circuit, AVR (Automatic Voltage regulation
board), the rotor, and stator.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check WCR (Weld Current Regulator board) and thyristor.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check the reactor.
Low engine speed. Adjust engine speed (see Section 7-8).
Incorrect polarity selection. Change output polarity.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check the reactor.
Check position of Amperage Adjustment control (see Section 5-1).
Incorrect size and length of weld cables. Select suitable cables (see Section 4-6).
