Subnet
A small network or portion of a network that is
part of a larger network. Large networks in
corporations, for example, sometimes are broken
down into smaller networks called "subnets" to
make the network more manageable and lines
used more efficiently.
Subnet mask
A 32-bit value for defining how many bits of the
IP address in a subnet are to be used for the
network address for network identification. The
part of the subnet mask other than the network
address is called the "host address" and this is
used for identifying PCs in the subnet.

TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol)
The standard networking protocol for the Internet
and Intranets.
Time zone
A country or region that uses standard time
locally throughout that country or region is

technology and encryption.
WAN (Wide Area Network)
A network comprising public switched lines and
private lines that extend over a wide area to allow
data transfer between PCs at geographically
remote sites, such as a company headquarters
and branches
