Node in a Lattus system at the customer's site. Installation Sequence In a Lattus system, a Lattus A10 Access Node is typically installed and configured after all other Lattus components (including controller nodes, storage nodes and switches) have been installed and configured.
Introduction Product Terminology Multi-Geo Connectivity Customers can add a Lattus A10 Access Node to any Lattus system at any time, including Lattus Multi-Geo systems that include two or three data centers in different geographical locations. Step 2: Cable the Lattus A10 Access Node Task: Cable the Lattus A10 Access Node to the Lattus Controller Nodes using either of the two supported methods: • Direct-Connect: The Lattus A10 connects one 10gE port (Eth5) directly to a 10gE port (Eth6) on Controller Node 1, and a second 10gE port (Eth7) directly to another 10gE port (Eth6) on Controller Node2.
Step 2: Cable the Lattus A10 Access Node Connecting the Ethernet Cables do not connect all power cords to the same bank in the rack. Instead, try to distribute cords across multiple power banks inside the rack. 5 Secure power cords out of the way using cable ties and Velcro tie strips.

Before you begin the configuration process, you should first verify that the sector count in the snfs1.cfgx configuration file on the supplied Lattus A10 USB drive matches the sector count used by StorNext File System. If the sector counts don’t match, snfs1-data1 won't mount and StorNext won't start.

Installing Centrify Samba on the Lattus A10 Node Follow these steps to install Centrify Samba on the Lattus A10. 1 As root, create a new directory and copy the Centrify Samba TGZ file into that directory. For example: # mkdir /root/samba # cp /root/desktop/centrify-samba-4.5.3-rhel3-...

To have Samba share a StorNext file system, you can create a simple share by copying the entry for samba-test in /etc/samba/smb.conf and giving this share a new name, and then pointing it at a directory on a StorNext file system. Lattus A10 Access Node Installation Guide...

Considerations for Since the above configuration limits configuration of permissions to the Samba Directory administrator of the Lattus A10 system, a likely configuration is to pre- configure per-user directories for the target users of the Samba shares. Configuration and Permissions An additional consideration is the degree of sharing with other users to set up for these directories and the files created in these directories.
Administrator Access through Samba By default, all administrative access to the Lattus A10 node is through direct access to the Lattus A10 system through the Lattus Web Interface or ssh access.
Page 90
Step 6: Install Centrify Samba Without Active Directory Administrator Access through Samba •The username root •The groups wheel and root 2 After changing this, run the following: # adflush # service centrifydc restart # service centrifydc-samba restart Lattus A10 Access Node Installation Guide...
Step 7: Configure NFS and CIFS Clients While not strictly part of the Lattus A10 software installation, the following information should be used to configure NAS clients for correct operation and best performance. Configuring Linux NFS Clients NFS version 3 should be specified, as well as TCP. In addition, the read and write maximum request sizes should be set to 1MB.
- /nfs/stornext/snfs1/ data1 nfs 0 yes proto=tcp,vers=3,wsize=1048576,rsize=1048576,forcedirectio Note: Quantum recommends that you DO NOT use NFS clients running RHEL5 or earlier, SLES9 or earlier, and Solaris-9 or earlier. Also, if NFS is used with RHEL4, RHEL5, or SLES9 clients, the NFS sync mount option should not be used.
A Lattus Multi-Geo configuration is one that spans two or three data centers which are located in different geographic areas. The Lattus A10 can be located at any of the locations in the Multi-Geo system, but for optimal performance the Lattus A10 should be located at the same data center that contains the Lattus Controller Node(s) with which the Lattus A10 will communicate.
Controller Node that is not located at the same data center, follow this procedure: Node 1 Shut down the local Lattus rack where the Lattus A10 is located. 2 Start the Lattus A10 and use the Lattus A10 GUI’s Object Storage Destinations page to connect to the desired remote Lattus Controller Node(s).
Step 9: Conduct the Customer Handoff Reminder: When conducting the handoff to the customer, never mention Amplidata or StorNext. In place of Amplidata, use Quantum Lattus. Instead of StorNext, use CIFS/NFS to Lattus. Performing Lattus Common Tasks Lattus User Essentials Review the “Basic Operations”...
DO NOT enable this feature, because once Named Streams is enabled, it CANNOT be disabled without remaking the whole file system. • Lattus does not support migration from or to a “roll your own” StorNext deployment. Lattus A10 Access Node Installation Guide...
• Lattus does not support migration from or to Quantum StorNext appliances via the Lattus A10. • The Lattus A10 does not support sharing a file or folder via both NFS and CIFS simultaneously. Due to the semantic differences between the two protocols, doing so will result in permission and coherency issues.
Whenever there is a manual change to objs.conf, you must run the following: # snpolicy -reloadconfig=mount_path -config=objs You should use the Lattus A10 GUI to make the changes because the GUI takes care of reloading the object storage configuration file. Refer to the objs.conf man pages for more information.
