General description

The Electric Line Shaft application allows a group of drives to work with a position limit set with to a master
reference. The master position reference can derive from the feedback encoder of a motor, from a line encoder,
or from a specific communication interface.
The slave drives follow the master position reference. The position ratio between master and slaves can be
changed proportionally with the Els Ratio parameters.
In general, the position and target speed of slave axes are defined by the formulas
The ELS2 Electric Line Shaft application is supported by firmware version 7.2.7 and later of the ADV200 drive
and by its supply of optional cards for acquisition of encoders and for the Fast Link system bus. Typical
configurations are described in the paragraph "Master-slave configurations."
Characteristics of the Electrical Line Shaft application for the ADV200:
No application parameters require saving and subsequent reset to be active.
Electric line shaft function with position reference from physical master (encoder) or virtual master.
The master position can be transmitted to the slave by repetition cards and encoder input or by Fast
Link fast synchronous bus (optional EXP-FL-XCAN-ADV card). The virtual master is always
transmitted by Fast Link. Chain configurations (each slave is the master for the next slave) or equal
ranking configurations (one master for all slaves) are possible.
Ratios selectable from defined set. Ratio can be continuously varied (Slip function).
Engage function to engage in position a master already in rotation and ability to recover phase angle
lost during engagement ramp.
Phase shift function to change the phase position of the slave with respect to the master while the
slave is engaged to the master.
Slave position error signal with dual threshold setting (warning, alarm).
Jog function to drive the slave line shaft independently from the master.
"Homing" function: slave axis homing function that enables the use of an external sensor, encoder
marker and freeze encoder signal for axis phasing
"Positioning" function: slave axis incremental positioning function with user-definable trapezoidal
speed profile.
