Profibus PA profile structure
C.1
PROFIBUS PA electronics: mode of operation
The process variable to be measured is generally referred to as the input variable.
The input variable provided by the sensor is an isolated digital frequency signal. This is
evaluated in a microprocessor and made available via PROFIBUS PA. The data for transmitter
parameterization is stored in non-volatile memory.
C.2
Block model for recording and processing measured values
The functions of the device are divided into blocks for different areas of responsibility. They
can be parameterized by acyclic data transfer via PDM

Transducer Block (TB)
The Transducer Block carries out adjustments to the sensor. Its output value (Primary Value) is
the status of the switch that indicates whether the sensor is covered by the medium or not.
The Transducer Block also carries out the required temperature measurement functions and
monitors the permitted temperature limits.
