1.7 Power Supply Option

The ZSSC324x power (VDD) can be supplied in different ways:
SSC Communication Board KS5V rail – default option. The 5V directly power the ZSSC324x device.
SSC Communication Board KS12V rail. The 12V is regulated down to a value between 4.8V and 5.4V (depending on the
configuration settings) by the ZSSC324x and the onboard pass transistor Q5.
Current loop master device. Typically, the current loop is supplied with a voltage between 7V and 48V, which is then regulated down
to a value between 4.8V and 5.4V (depending on the configuration settings) by the ZSSC324x and the onboard pass transistor Q5.
Externally connected supply. A low-noise laboratory power supply or battery could be used to achieve better performance or
accuracy.
Note: If an externally connected supply is used, adjust the external power supply to the proper voltage and current levels (see also Table
8) before connecting the supply to the kit.
Important: The maximum voltage for an external supply is 48V. If using an external power supply, do not apply the power connection until
jumpers are properly set and HV option has been selected in the GUI.
