Determining diopter settings for
users
The individual diopters can be regulated continuously from +5 to –5.
The surgical microscope ensures a high degree of fatigue resistance
if the diopter setting is correct for both eyes.
Preparations
Open any double-iris diaphragm used.

Turn both eyepieces to <0>.

Bringing test object image into sharp focus
Select the highest magnification, 12.8.

Place a flat test object with sharp contours under the objective

at working distance.
Move the Leica M525 F20/CT20 surgical microscope toward the

test object via the camera or graticule until it appears in sharp
focus.
Adjusting the diopter settings
Select the lowest magnification (magnification 1.2).

Without looking into the eyepieces, turn both eyelenses to +5.

Slowly turn the eyelenses toward –5 individually for each eye
X
X
until the test object appears in sharp focus.
Checking the setting
Select the highest magnification (magnification 12.8).

Check image sharpness and adjust if necessary.

Setting diopter values for users
Adjust the diopter settings accurately for each eye separately; only
this method will ensure that the image will stay in focus
throughout the entire zoom range (parfocal).

Setting up eyepieces

Read the diopter values of the operating surgeon at the control

Set diopter values at each eyepiece individually with the setting

Attaching the protective glass to
the objective
Place the gas-sterilizable protective glass on the objective so

that the markings on the Leica M525 F20/CT20 surgical
microscope (4) and on the protective glass (5) are aligned.

Insert the protective glass upwards into the bayonet lock in

direction (a).
Turn the protective glass in direction (b) until it engages.
