Advanced operations

This chapter describes operations for various advanced
functions of DVD VIDE O, A udio CD, Video CD and SVCD
discs. For MP3 and JPEG disc playback, see the separate
chapters beginning on pages 40 and 43.
NOTE
M ake sure that the TV - DVD switch on
the re m ote control unit is set to " DVD "

w hen using the 5/∞/2/3, nu m eric and
TV/VIDE O - C A N CEL buttons for
controlling the unit.
Playing from a specific
position on a disc
You can play a disc fro m the selected track, title or
chapter, or fro m the specified tim e.
To locate a desired scene from the DVD
menu
DVD VIDE O discs generally have their o w n m enus w hich
sho w the disc contents. These m enus contain various
ite ms such as titles of m ovies, na m es of songs, or artist
inform ation, and display the m on the TV screen. You can
locate a desired scene using the DVD m enu.

Press TOP MENU or MENU.
The m enu appears on the TV screen.

About DVD VIDEO menu
Normally, a DVD VIDEO disc which contains more than one title
may have a "title" menu which lists the titles. In this case, the
menu appears on the TV screen when you press the TOP MEN U
button. Some DVD VIDEO discs may also have a different menu
which appears when the MEN U button is pressed.
See the instructions of each DVD VIDEO disc for its particular
menu.

Use 5/∞/2/3 to select a desired item, then
press ENTER.
The unit starts playback of the selected ite m.
• With so m e discs, you can also select ite ms by entering the
corresponding nu m ber using the nu m eric buttons, w hich
m ay cause the unit to auto m atically start playback.
NOTES
• When appears on the TV screen when you press TOP
MENU or MENU in step 1:
The disc does not have an appropriate m enu listing the
titles.
• The MENU button does not work while stopped.
To locate a desired scene from the menu
of a Video CD/SVCD with PBC
So m e Video CD/SVCD discs support the PBC function.
PBC is an abbreviation of "PlayBack Control." A Video
CD/SVCD disc recorded with PBC has its o w n m enus,
such as a list of the songs of the disc. You can locate a
specific scene by using the PBC m enu.
