Important cautions

Installation of the unit
• Select a place w hich is level, dry and neither too hot
nor too cold (betw een 5
o
• Leave sufficient distance betw een the unit and the TV.
• Do not use the unit in a place subject to vibrations.
Power cord
• Do not handle the po w er cord with w et hands!
• A sm all a m ount of po w er (1.7 W) is always consu m ed
w hile the po w er cord is connected to the wall outlet.
• W hen unplugging the unit fro m the wall outlet, always
pull the plug, not the po w er cord.
To prevent malfunction of the unit
• There are no user-serviceable parts inside. If anything
goes wrong, unplug the po w er cord and consult your
dealer.
• Do not insert any m etallic object into the unit.
• Do not use any non-standard shape disc available on
the m arket, because it m ay da m age the unit.
• Do not use a disc with tape, seals, or paste on it,
because da m age to the unit m ay result.
Note about copyright laws
• Please check the copyright la ws in your country before
recording fro m DVD VIDE O, A udio CD, Video CD,
SVCD, MP3 and JPEG discs. Recording of copyrighted
m aterial m ay infringe copyright la ws.
Note about the copyguard system
• DVD VIDE O discs are protected by the copyguard
syste m. W hen you connect the unit to your VCR (or
integrated TV/Video syste m), the copyguard syste m
activates and the picture m ay not play back correctly.

Safety precautions

Avoid moisture, water and dust
Do not place the unit in m oist or dusty places.
Avoid high temperatures
Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight or place it near
a heating device.
When you are away
W hen you are a way on travel or otherwise for an
extended period of tim e, re m ove the plug fro m the wall
outlet.
Do not insert foreign objects into the unit
Do not insert wires, hairpins, coins, etc. into the unit.
Do not block the vents
Blocking the vents m ay da m age the unit.
Care of the cabinet
W hen cleaning the unit, use a soft cloth and follo w the
relevant instructions on the use of che mically-coated
cloths. Do not use benzene, thinner or other organic
solvents and disinfectants. These m ay cause
deform ation or discoloring.
If water gets inside the unit
Turn off the po w er switch and re m ove the plug fro m the
wall outlet, then call the store w here you m ade your
purchase. Using the unit in this state m ay cause a fire or
electrical shock.
