Sterile air filter
In any case, a sterile air filter must be directly
connected to the Luer-lock connector of the
laser. The filter features a Luer-lock connector
as well.
Depending on the fiber used, different
connection options are available:
Irrigated fiber
®

If you use a gas-irrigated fiber, the Luer
connector of the connection hose (proximal fiber
end) must be connected to the sterile filter. The
distal fiber end features a small nozzle from
which both the laser light and the air flow exit.
Fiber irrigation tubing
The fiber irrigation tubing can be pulled over
any bare fiber. As with irrigated fibers, both the
laser light and the air flow exit the fiber at its
distal end. The flexible tube made of Teflon is
sealed at its proximal end and additionally
features a hose for connection to the sterile
filter (Luer-lock).
Laser focusing handpiece
If you work with a laser focusing handpiece, the
air flow is supplied to the handpiece through the
latter's supply fiber. The air flow then exits the
distal end of the front sleeve together with the
laser light. A connection hose is used to connect
the sterile filter to the supply fiber (Luer-lock
connection).
