AUTO-START-STOP - MANUAL
TRANSMISSION
WARNINGS
Always switch the ignition off and
fully apply the parking brake before
carrying out any maintenance or
leaving your vehicle. Failure to follow this
instruction could result in personal injury
or death if the engine restarts.
For vehicles with Auto-Start-Stop
the battery requirement is different.
You must replace the battery with
one of exactly the same specification.
When stationary, the system stops the
engine to reduce fuel consumption and
CO2 emissions, and restarts the engine
when you are ready to move off.
Note: The auto-start-stop indicator
illuminates green when the engine shuts
down. See Warning Lamps and Indicators
(page 70). It flashes amber with a message
when the driver needs to shift to neutral or
press a pedal. See Information Messages
(page 84). If it illuminates grey the system
is not available.
Using Auto-Start-Stop
To Stop the Engine
1.
Stop your vehicle.
2. Shift into neutral.
3. Release the clutch and accelerator
pedal.
To Restart the Engine
Press the clutch pedal.
Note: To obtain maximum benefit from the
system, shift to neutral (N) and release the
clutch pedal during any stop longer than
three seconds.

Note: Auto-start-stop also provides a stall
recovery feature. To restart the engine after
stalling, fully press the clutch pedal.
Limitations of Use
Under certain conditions the engine may
not stop, for example:
When the driver seatbelt is unfastened.
Low engine temperature.
To maintain the interior climate.
The vehicle battery charge is low.
The outside temperature is too low or
too high.
Opening the driver door when moving.
The heated windshield is on.
During regeneration of the diesel
particulate filter.
Under certain conditions the engine may
restart, for example:
To maintain the interior climate, for
example air conditioning.
The heated windshield is on.
Your vehicle starts to roll downhill in
neutral.
The vehicle battery charge is low.
Switching the System On and Off
The system automatically turns on each
time you switch the ignition on.
To switch the system off, press
the switch and the word OFF
illuminates. Press again to
switch the system back on.
Note: If the system detects a malfunction,
it turns off. If it remains inactive after an
ignition cycle, have your vehicle checked by
an authorized dealer.
Note: The system may not function if you
leave electrical loads connected with the
ignition off, because they drain the battery.
