Functional Checkout Procedure: Alarm Test
This portion of the test ensures the integrity of the audio alarms and tests the alarm
limit software.
1.
Connect the Model 325 Simulator's US sub-cable to the monitor's

Press and hold (for three seconds)

Set the FHR alarm enable to on.
4.
Set the FHR high alarm limit value to 180 BPM.
5.
Set the FHR low alarm limit value to 100 BPM.
6.
Set the FHR audio alarm to a level you can easily hear.
7.
Press the
button to exit the setup mode.

Press the monitor's

Verify that the FHR high and low limits print in the annotation area of the strip
chart paper.
10. Turn off the monitor's recorder.

from the monitor's speaker.

BPM. Again, verify that there is no alarm tone sounding from the monitor's
speaker.

Manual Adjustment
BPM. After five minutes, verify the following on the monitor:
An alarm tone is emitted from the monitor's speaker (alternating high/low
tones).
The Alarm indicator flashes.
The affected heart rate numerics flash.
15. Press the monitor's front panel
alarm tone silences but the visual indications remain present.
