12 Cleaning

12 Cleaning
The instrument must be cleaned in the following situations to assure correct operation:
Immediately when the hand wheels are
more difficult to turn than usual
prior to a reagent change
prior to long term storage
prior to dismantling the instrument
The glass cylinder, valves, telescopic filling tube and titrating tube contain reagent! Fol-
low the safety instructions (see Safety Instructions, p. 50)!

12.1 Standard cleaning

regularly when using crystallizing solutions
when liquids accumulate in the screw cap of
the titrating tube
WARNING
a.
Set the valve to 'Recirculation' and empty the instru-
ment completely by turning the hand wheels.
b.
Screw the instrument onto a bottle filled with deionized
water and rinse the instrument several times by com-
pletely filling and emptying it.
c.
Set the valve to 'Titrate', unscrew the screw cap from
the titration tube and place a suitable receiving vessel
under the titrating tube. To clean the titrating tube,
rinse the instrument several times by completely filling
and emptying it.
d.
If deposits appear in the dispensing cylinder, repeat this
process with a suitable cleaning agent and then rinse
again with deionized water.
