Emergency recovery procedure(s) and times

Refer to section '9', pages 92-101 of Platform Basket Use & Maintenance Manual, Logbook code:
4528576300.0, Edition 11/2019.

Recovering aerial parts into gauge (travelling mode)

1. Loss of main engine – using battery power
- Operate controls to bring aerial parts into gauge.
Time to perform: 4 minutes (worst case – 180 degrees slew, cage at maximum height)
Persons required: 1
2. Loss of battery power – using hand pump (total electrical failure)
- Activate override valve (YV125)
- Operate hand pump
- Use levers on valves to bring aerial parts into gauge.
Time to perform: 30 minutes (worst case – 180 degrees slew, cage at maximum height)
Persons required: 2

Off tracking machine from rail using RRAP

(assumes machine has been recovered to RRAP by towing or battery power)
1. Loss of main engine – using battery power
- Operate controls to de-mount machine from rail and manoeuvre off RRAP.
Time to perform: 4 minutes (5m clear of line)
Persons required: 1
2. Loss of battery power – using hand pump (total electrical failure)
- Activate override valve (YV90)
- Activate override valve (YV110)
- Operate hand pump
- Use levers on valves to de-mount machine from rail
- Use lever to perform steering function
* Note: Highly recommend use of suitable towing vehicle to tow machine clear of line as hand pump
operation is very slow for drive functions
Time to perform: 45 minutes (3m clear of line using towing vehicle)
Persons required: 2
