2. Remove the lower link bolt (A, Figure 15) at each end
of the sway bar.
3. Remove the sway bar supports as follows:
a. Using a small punch, knock out the rivet mandrels
from the center of each rivet (Figure 16).

Remove the sway bar supports and pull the sway
bar out of the snowmobile.
4. Installation is the reverse of the preceding steps. Note
the following:
a. Use high strength rivets to secure the sway bar sup-
ports. Contact a Yamaha dealership for rivets.
b. Apply low-temperature grease to the bushing in the
sway bar link.
Inspection
1. Clean the sway bar in solvent and dry thoroughly.
2. Inspect the sway bar for damage and deformation.
3. If paint was removed from the sway bar because of
cleaning or through use, touch up these areas before in-
stallation.
Control Arms
Refer to Figure 5.
1. Support the front of the machine so both skis are off the
ground.
2. Disconnect the outer control arm ends from the trailing
arms (Figure 12). Remove the bushings (Figure 13) and
spacer in the end of each control arm.
3. Disconnect the inner control arm rod ends from the
pan. Do not loosen the rod end-to-control arm nuts.
4. Remove the control arms.
5. Inspect the control arms as described in the following
procedure.

The outer control arm end is angled. Make
sure the outer control

the following:
a. Clean the control arm bushings of all old grease.
b. Check the length of the control arm (Figure 17).

3. Check the control arms for wear, cracks or other dam-
age.
4. Check the inner rod ends for excessive wear or dam-
age. If damaged, loosen the nut and unscrew the ball joint.
Reverse to install.
5. Replace worn or damaged parts as required.
