Slider halves
11. Check the bushing and roller assembly (Figure 29)
for wear or damage. Fit the roller onto its bushing and
check for excessive wear or looseness. Measure the inside
diameter of the bushing and compare with the wear limit
specified in Table 14. Install a new bushing if the diame-
ter exceeds the wear limit.
12. If there is any doubt about the condition of any part,
replace it with a new one.
Reassembly
NOTE
To maintain primary sheave balance, install
the weight retaining bolts so the threaded
end points in a counterclockwise direction

Refer to Figure 36.
1. Install the weight assemblies onto the sliding sheave
(Figure 30). Rotate the weight back and forth to make
sure it moves smoothly. Tighten the bolts to 6 N-m (53

3. Install the spider roller assemblies (Figure 28).
Tighten the nut to 6 N-m (53 in.-lb.). Check that each
roller turns smoothly.
4. Install the primary sheave spring (Figure 27).
5. Align the X mark on the sheave cap (Figure 33) with
the X mark on the spider (Figure 37) and install the
sheave cap.
6. Install the sheave cap bolts and lockwashers. Tighten
the bolts evenly in a crossing pattern to 14 N-m (124

2. Slide the primary sheave onto the crankshaft.
3. Apply a light weight oil onto the primary bolt threads
and thread the bolt into the end of the crankshaft. See Fig-
ure 38.
4. Secure the primary sheave with the holder.
5. Tighten the primary sheave bolt in two steps

a. Tighten the bolt to 120 N-m (88 fi.-lb.) to seat the
primary sheave onto the crankshaft.
b. Loosen the primary sheave bolt completely.
c. Retighten the primary sheave bolt to 60 N-m (44

7. Reinstall the drive belt as described in this chapter.
