3.2

Switching off the device

CAUTION
!
When switching off the X-zone 5000, Dräger
recommends wearing hearing protection or using the
alarm-attenuation ring (order no. 83 20 110) as the
acoustic alarm is activated for a brief period.
3.2.1
STANDBY mode
Switch off the X-am 5000/5600 in the X-zone 5000 in
accordance with the instructions for use.
The visual and the audible alarm will be activated for a
short time before the X-zone 5000 switches off.
The X-zone 5000 is in STANDBY mode.
3.2.2
OFF mode
1. Press the
key and the
hold down for approx. 3 seconds.
The battery LED goes off.
The X-zone 5000 is off (OFF mode).
2. If applicable, remove the X-am 5000/5600 from the device
receptacle.

NiMH battery in the X-zone 5000

X-am 5000/5600: Switched on
X-zone 5000:
STANDBY mode
X-am 5000/5600: Switched off

3.4

Carrying out a function test with gas

CAUTION
!
A function test must be carried out on every device
before use.
The function test can be carried out in 2 ways.
3.4.1
Function test on the X-am 5000/5600
Perform a function test in accordance with the instructions
for use for the gas detection instrument before using with
the X-zone 5000.
3.4.2
Function test of the X-am 5000/5600 in
combination with the X-zone 5000
In diffusion mode
1. Switch on the X-zone 5000 (see "Switching on the
instrument" on page 38).
2. Place adapter (1) (order no. 83 23 314) on the holder
(diffusion).
3. Connect the test gas cylinder hose to the adapter (2).
4. Open the test gas cylinder valve to let test gas flow over the
sensors.
5. Wait until the device displays the test gas concentration
with sufficient tolerance:
Ex: ±20 % of the test gas concentration

: ±0.8 Vol.-%
2
TOX: ±20 % of the test gas concentration
Depending on the test gas concentration, alarm A1 or A2
is issued when the alarm thresholds are exceeded.
6. Close the test gas cylinder valve and remove the adapter
from the holder.
If the displays are outside of the above-mentioned ranges:
Have the X-am 5000/5600 calibrated by the service personnel.

Upon application of the Dräger mixed gas (order no. 68 11 130)
the displays should be within this range. Different concentrations
can be set using the Dräger CC-Vision PC software provided.
