BRIEF DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW
The OSD2244V is a 5-port Ethernet switch with simple network management designed to operate in
tough industrial applications providing real-time redundant performance. It has two 10/100/1000Base-
T RJ45 copper ports, two SFP ports for the ring and one SFP port which can be specified by the user
for 1000Base-Lx fiber mode or as 1000Base-T RJ45 copper.
The OSD2244V incorporates redundant ring technology providing maximum reliability on critical
networks. In the event of device or fiber failure the data path will automatically switch to a secondary
path in less than 5ms per hop to maintain ring network integrity. The OSD2244V is a 802.1Q with
IEEE802.1ac Tag and IEEE802.1p priority VLAN tagging system allowing traffic for multiple VLANs
to be carried on a single link.
The unit will operate on either singlemode or multimode fiber. Operation over at least 50km of
singlemode fiber is possible by use of the appropriate optical devices. It normally requires two fibers
but is optionally available for one fiber operation.
A major benefit of the OSD2244V is its reliable and consistent performance over the -20°C to +75°C
temperature range that allows it to be used in uncontrolled environments such as roadside cabinets,
mine sites and factories.
