Connecting Laser Fibers

NOTICE
The laser is equipped with a coded SMA socket (SMA-X), thus only laser fibers with SMA-X
plugs allow the activation of the laser.
Remove laser fibers and applicators approved for the device (see section 10 "Accessories",
page 64) from the packaging and connect them. In case of sterile disposable products, the
packaging must be checked for integrity, and the expiration date must be observed.
Perform a visual check before connecting the supply fiber of a focusing handpiece:
— Check along its full length whether the supply fiber is intact.
— Remove protective cap from the SMA-X plug of the supply fiber.
— Check if the coupling side on the SMA-X plug is damaged or dirty.
— Visually check the optics of the focusing handpiece.
Observe the instructions for use and the labels of the applicator packaging.
Insert the SMA-X plug in axial direction into the SMA-X connection socket and fully tighten
nut manually (do not use any tools).
If a suitable SMA-X plug is used, the red signal lamp above the SMA-X socket turns dark,
and the red symbol "Fiber missing" disappears from the display. Further tighten the nut.
NOTICE
The laser fiber must be fully tightened until it reaches the limit stop of the SMA-X nut. Only
this guarantees that the focused laser beam fully enters into the laser fiber.
Check the fiber using the pilot laser light (see section 5.3 "Checking the Laser Fiber Using
the Pilot Laser", page 38).
