Removing and replacing the system battery
The system battery provides power to the real-time clock. If the server no longer automatically displays the correct date and time, you
might need to replace the system battery.
WARNING: The computer contains an internal lithium manganese dioxide, a vanadium
WARNING:
pentoxide, or an alkaline battery pack. A risk of fire and burns exists if the battery pack is not
properly handled. To reduce the risk of personal injury:
Do not attempt to recharge the battery.
Do not expose the battery to temperatures higher than 60°C (140°F).
Do not expose the battery to extremely low air pressure as it might lead to explosion or
leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, short external contacts, or dispose of in fire or water.
Replace only with the spare designated for this product.
Procedure
Procedure
1. Power down the server (Power down the server).
2. Remove all power:
Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
a. Extend the server from the rack ( Extend the server from the rack ).
b. Remove the server from the rack ( Remove the server from the rack ).
4. Remove the access panel ( Remove the access panel ).
5. Locate the battery (System board components).
6. Remove the battery.
7. To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
8. Properly dispose of the old battery.
