15.1 Checklist before the operation

Details
Check the tubes, eyepieces and the documentation

accessories (if used) for cleanliness.
Remove dust and dirt.
X
Lock the M844 in place and install all accessories on the
X
microscope so it is ready for use (see chapter 7.5).
Connect the footswitch if used.
X
Check the camera image on the monitor and realign if
X
necessary.
Check the tube and eyepiece setting for the selected user.
X
Balance the M844 (see chapter 7.11.1 or chapter 7.12.2).
X
Turn the handles forwards and hold.
X
All brakes are released.
Check the balancing.
X
Connect the power cable.
X
Switch on the microscope.
X
Check the lamp history and make sure that the remaining
X
life time is sufficient for the planned surgery.
Check the Main Light 1, Main Light 2 illuminators and the
X
OttoFlex™ illuminator.
Replace defective bulbs before the surgery.
X
Test the operational readiness of the magnification motor
X
and the focus motor.
Test all functions on the handles and the footswitch.
X
Check the user settings on the control unit for the selected
X
user.
Position the M844 on the OP table as required and lock the
X
foot brake (chapter 7.1.1 or chapter 7.1.2).
Fit sterile components and sterile drape if used (see
X
chapter 7.14).
Check that all equipment is in its proper position (all
X
covers fitted, doors closed).
