Preparation before surgery
Positioning options
• All positions are also possible as the mirror image
position.
• The instrument must be positioned such that the range
of movement is large enough for the expected tasks.
Set the footbrake.

Plug the footswitch into the stand and position it.

Plug the power cable into the stand.

Connect the equipotential bonding to the stand.

WARNING
Danger of fatal electrical shock.
The M844 surgical microscope may be connected to a

grounded socket only.

Always use the M844 surgical with sterile controls and a

sterile drape.

7.14.1 Covers for rotary buttons
Use the covers also when you use sterile disposable drapes.
The controls will be easier to grasp.
The controls indicated in the diagram can be provided with steam-
sterilizable handles or covers.

Packaging the footswitch in a plastic bag protects it against
dirt.
7.14.3 Sterile drape for stand
Only use the sterile Leica tested drapes specified in the
Accessories section.
