Appendix B: Wedge-Probe Assembly Maintenance

The following procedures are not specific to the ChainSCANNER. They are
nevertheless useful information to complete this manual.
B.1

Adjustment of the Carbide Wear-Pins on Wedges

Wedges are designed to hold a transducer or a phased array probe in order to ensure
an adequate ultrasonic diffusion through the surface being inspected, and to direct
the couplant flow correctly. To limit wear to the wedge, carbide wear-pins can be
inserted at each corner of the contact surface of the wedge (see Figure 7-2 on page 78).
