Problem
Possible cause
Sound M
1 Signal cables from the source device to the
is buzzing
Sound M are too long (Analog Line)
2 Used signal cable not shielded or the shield on
the cable used is interrupted (defective)
3 Ground loop (hum loop) "generated"
A ground loop can occur if at least two
interconnected devices with safety plugs
(eg amplifier and computer) are connected to
locally separated power outlets
4 A non-interference suppressed consumer
(eg fridge) on the same electricity network
The Sound M
2 This can happen when your (mobile) device is
unintentionally switches
playing system sounds such as when typing on
on
the keyboard, a digital source is turned on, or an
analog source is playing
Solution
1 Use shorter and/or higher quality signal cables
2 Replace the cable with a shielded
and/or higher quality cable
3 Connect all devices connected to the Sound M
with a safety plug to a power strip (multiple socket)
4 For testing purposes, turn off any possible sources of interfe-
rence; have the relevant device suppressed for interference,
if the humming sound disappears, or initially connect the
source of interference to another mains phase (L1, L2 or L3)
(consult a specialist if necessary); Insert a special "sheath
current filter" (available from specialist retailers) between the
amplifier and the Sound M to eliminate the humming Turn
the power plug round to reduce the so-called hum voltage
(particularly important
if the source device is not earthed)
2 Change the standby function from AUTO / [AUT] to ECO /
[ECO], MANUAL / [MAN] or NETWORK / [NSB]
