Firmware updates via USB-Stick
The Sound M offers you the possibility to perform firmware-updates via USB-stick� With such an update new features or improvements in combinati-
on with other devices as well as bugfixes can be implemented� During an update the Sound M is not operable�
Attention: Do NOT disconnect the Sound M from the power supply during an update process! This may lead to permanent mailfunction!
To perform a firmware-update, please do the following:
Open the productpage of the Sound M on www�canton�de and look for the latest firmware in the category "Downloads" as a zip-file� The corresponding

manual for this firmware can also be found as download�
Please investigate the current firmware-version of your Sound M: Open the menu by pressing the "M" button� Use the

menu System Info [INF] and confirm with the "OK" button� Select the menu item Firmware Info [FWI] and confirm with the "OK" button� If the firmware-ver-
sion in "MCU" [MCU] lower and therefore older than the firmware available on the Canton homepage, we recommend to perform a firmware-update on your
Sound M�
Open the ZIP-file on your PC and unzip all included files into the root directory of an empty FAT32 formated USB-stick (USB-A port)�

Disconnect the Sound M from the mains for min� 40 seconds, plug the USB-stick with the update files into the USB connector on the rear panel of the Sound

M and reconnect it to the mains�
The Sound M now performs the automatic update� It is only finished once the Sound M went back into standby or into normal use mdoe and reacts to the

remote control� The update process takes about 2�5–3 Minutes�
From now on the input streams and the operating status of the Sound M are logged in real time and written into the log-file�
(finally) remove the USB stick from the Sound M�

Caution: Not every USB-stick is recognized by the Sound M and can be used for firmware-updates� Please try a different FAT32-formated USB-stick with minimal
memory (up to 4GB) in case the update does not start automatically when plugged into the mains�
