Turn the ignition key to position 2 in the
X
ignition lock or start the engine.
To switch on: turn the light switch to
X
T, L or c.
Press the N button.

The green N indicator lamp in the instru-
ment cluster lights up.
To switch off: press the N button.

The green N indicator lamp in the instru-
ment cluster goes out.
Rear foglamp

If you switch the engine off (key in posi-
tion 1 in the ignition lock) and then restart
it, the previous settings for the rear foglamp
are restored.
Turn the ignition key to position 2 in the
X
ignition lock or start the engine.
Turn the light switch to L or c
X
To switch on: press the R button.
X
The yellow R indicator lamp in the
instrument cluster lights up.
To switch off: press the R button.
X
The yellow R indicator lamp in the
instrument cluster goes out.
Vehicles with front foglamps: when the light
switch is in position T, the rear foglamp
can only be switched on if the front foglamps
(without dipped-beam headlamps) are
switched on.
Manual main-beam headlamps
Turn the ignition key to position 2 in the
X
ignition lock or start the engine.
To switch on: turn the light switch to
X
L.

The K indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster lights up.
To deactivate: move the combination

switch back to its normal position.
The K indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster goes out.
Adaptive Highbeam Assist*
You can use this function to set the head-
lamps to change between dipped-beam and
main-beam automatically. The system recog-
nises vehicles with their lights on, either
approaching from the opposite direction or
travelling in front of your vehicle, and conse-
quently switches the headlamps from main
beam to dipped beam.
The system automatically adapts the dipped-

beam headlamp range depending on the dis-
tance to the other vehicle. When the system
no longer detects any other vehicles, it acti-
vates the main-beam headlamps again.
The optical sensor for the system is behind
the windscreen in the overhead control panel
area.
