Possible causes/consequences and M M Solutions
The battery is not being charged. A warning tone also sounds.
Possible causes are:
a faulty alternator
R
a torn poly-V-belt
R
a malfunction in the electronics
R
Pull over and stop the vehicle safely, paying attention to
X
road and traffic conditions and leave the engine running.
Open the bonnet.

Check whether the poly-V-belt is torn.
X
If the poly-V-belt is torn:
! do not continue driving. The engine could otherwise over-
heat.
Switch off the engine.
X
Consult a qualified specialist workshop.
X
If the poly-V-belt is OK:
Visit a qualified specialist workshop.
X
The brake pads/linings have reached their wear limit.
Visit a qualified specialist workshop.

Risk of accident
There is insufficient brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir. In
addition, the J indicator lamp in the instrument cluster
lights up and a warning tone sounds.
Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible,

paying attention to road and traffic conditions. Do not con-
tinue driving under any circumstances.
Consult a qualified specialist workshop.
X
Do not top up the brake fluid. This will not rectify the fault.
You are driving with the parking brake applied. A warning tone
also sounds.
Release the parking brake.
