Locking/unlocking in an emergency

Insert the emergency key element into the
X
lock of the driver's door as far as it will go.
Turn the emergency key element anti-
X
clockwise to position 1.
The door is unlocked.

On right-hand-drive vehicles, turn the
emergency key element clockwise.
Turn the emergency key element back and
X
remove it.
Locking the vehicle
Open the driver's door.

Close the front-passenger door and the
X
boot lid.
Press the locking button (
X
Check whether the locking knob on the
X
front-passenger door is still visible. Press
down the locking knob manually, if neces-
sary.
Close the driver's door.

Remove the emergency key element from
X
the key (
page 249).

Closing the soft top manually (Cabrio-
let)
If the soft top cannot be closed automatically,
check the following points:

If automatic operation still does not work, the
soft top can be closed manually.
This work must be performed by two persons.

Insert the emergency key element into the
lock of the driver's door as far as it will go.
Turn the emergency key element clockwise
as far as it will go to position 1.
On right-hand-drive vehicles, turn the
emergency key element anti-clockwise.
Turn the emergency key element back and
remove it.
Check whether the doors and the boot lid
are locked.
Is the boot separator engaged

Is the skibag cover* closed (
Are the head restraints on the rear bench
seats extended?
Is the boot lid closed?
Is the on-board voltage sufficient?
Start the engine if necessary.
Closing the soft top manually is a com-
plex, technically demanding process which
requires a great deal of force. Close the soft
top manually only in extreme emergencies.
