Table 2.5 Filter Pattern Table Entry Parameters
When you have finished modifying these parameters, click Save This Filter Pattern
Table Entry. This opens the Superuser Menu Result page, enabling you to reboot the IDU
and implement the modifications (see
The default gateway of the IDU is its satellite interface, so any traffic processed by the
IDU will be sent over the air unless the destination IP address of the packet falls in the
range of the IDU's ethernet segment, in this case the traffic is sent to the IDU's ethernet
port (IDU ethernet LAN).
It is however possible to use the static routing feature of the IDU to route to its ethernet
interface traffic that does not fall in its Ethernet segment. This traffic would be forwarded
to a router on the IDU's ethernet LAN. The router would then forward the packet to
another LAN. This permits the use of multiple LANs behind a SIT.
This can be done through the Routing Management page. The table below describes the
parameters for the routing table.
Parameter
Destination
The destination IP address and mask corresponding to a host network.
This network should be outside the IDU Ethernet LAN.
Mask
The gateway, usually a router, that the IDU will forward the corre-
gateway
sponding IP traffic to.
The actions are:
Action
- Add Route to add a route to the IDU's routing table
- Delete Route to delete a route from the IDU's routing table
The following figure shows an example of a typical set-up on the IDU LAN. In this con-
figuration, you would use the routing management page to configure the IDU to route, as
an example, any traffic destined to Host network 1 through Router 1.
Note: Routes should only be added for the IDU's Ethernet interface, and the gateways
(routers) configured should have their IP address on the IDU's ethernet LAN.
