SYMPTOM
Windrow uneven cont'd.

TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
Auger flighting is bent, has large
nicks in OD, or is excessively
worn causing poor feed across
header.
Conditioner is center feeding in
heavy crop
Feed pan/Rock-drop tines not
correctly positioned.
Auger pans and/or conditioner
feed pan pushed down in front
of or below auger
Lean bar too high in medium
height crops.
Lean bar too low in tall crops
Conditioner forming shield too
low.
Forming shield rear deflector too
low.
Forming shield fins incorrectly
positioned.
Ground speed too fast.
Windrow uneven.
Insufficient crop conditioning.
Excessive crop conditioning.
(Windrow/swath flat, instead of
fluffy for optimum aeration.
Windrow too narrow.
Forming shield set too low: rear
deflector also too low.
Crop not flowing uniformly
across cutterbar, along auger
into hay conditioner.

SOLUTION
Straighten flighting, repair or replace
if excessively worn.
Remove center stripper bar
extensions, or install auger flighting
deflectors
Remove longer "L" angle front
stripper bars and replace with shorter
"C" channel front strippers.
Position feed pan/rock drop tines to
match crop volume.
Raise pan to its original position.
Lower lean bar to 2/3 of crop height.
Raise lean bar or install lean bar
extensions to prevent hair pinning
over lean bar.
Raise forming shield.
Raise rear deflector to mid-slot
position.
Position fins parallel to side
deflectors. Use fins only for swaths 6
ft. and wider.
Reduce ground speed.
See previous section.
Increase conditioner roll intermesh.
Decrease conditioner roll intermesh.
Increase windrow width. Use fins on
conditioner forming shield for swaths
wider than 72" (1830 mm).

Set forming shield in 5
hole from
bottom on rubber strap supports.
Set rear deflector at approximately
Inspect all components for proper
adjustment.
Check for soil build-up in header that
may impede crop flow.
Check that conditioner feed pan is
not pushed down and is properly
feeding conditioner.
Ensure that fins on conditioner
forming shield (only for 72" (1830
mm) and wider) are correctly
positioned for smooth crop flow.
